Prepping for your makeup appointment

April 30, 2019

Nothing beats the idea of not having to worry about doing your makeup for a special event. To get the most from your makeup session, we've put together our top prep tips:

3 days before: Have all your facial waxing done, as makeup won't stick properly to skin that's been waxed in the last 24-48 hours.

2 days before: If you're having a spray tan, have this done 2 days before. Almost all spray tans need a good 24 hours to develop to their full potential, and you don't want your tan to still be darkening after you've had your makeup done!

We also think it's great to avoid tanning your face, particularly if you're a lover of a dark tan, as sometimes dark tan in the pores of your face can look like blackheads, and ruin your makeup!

24 hours before: Gently exfoliate your face (don't forget your lips!) 24 hours beforehand, and continue your skin routine as normal (moisturiser, eye serum and lip balm as a minimum).

You might also like to think about the makeup look you'd like us to do, or whether you'd like to leave it totally in our hands!

On the day: Cleanse your face and apply your usual skincare (moisturiser, eye serum and lip balm as a minimum). Arrive to your appointment exactly like this - please don't wear tinted moisturiser, BB cream, mascara, or any other makeup products, as we don't allow time for makeup removal during your appointment, so this could result in your actual makeup application time being cut short.

You'll have an hour in the chair for makeup, so to make the most of your time with your artist, we ask you to pop your phone on silent so your time is uninterrupted, and skull your coffee before you arrive, otherwise it'll go cold!
